Rotterdam Architecture Summer School
The Summer School is a two-week international event aimed at advanced bachelor students, master students and young professionals. The Summer School is organized every summer by the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design.
The Summer School offers an exercise in dealing with a unique, yet realistic design problem aimed on a location in Rotterdam. Students from countries all over the world work in groups of eight to ten people, supervised by experienced and inspiring architects and urban designers. Several experts contribute to the studio by giving lectures or being a critic. Several field trips and excursions are included in the programme.
The Rotterdam Academy is situated at the former head offices of the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM - the Rotterdam Dry Dock Company), formerly one of the biggest shipyards in Europe - a raw, open industrial location and an inspiring and unique working spot. The RDM is located amidst one of the biggest port restructuring areas of Europe: the 1600ha big ‘Stadshavens’ or City Ports Area.
The combination of working with other young professionals from other countries in thé architectural city of The Netherlands will make it an unforgettable experience.
